The Center for Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences is a new trans-disciplinary center charged with fostering the development of theoretical and applied mathematical research in the natural and engineering sciences at Duke University. The central aims of the Center are: to strengthen the communication and exchange of ideas among members the theory community across departmental and school lines at Duke; work with departments and other academic units to attract broadly interested world-class theorists in priority areas where critical mass for a world leading program is currently missing; and germinate new programmatic collaborations among theorists or theorists and experimentalists in forefront fields of scientific research.
